Welbilt – Merrychef
Professional Catering Equipment
I joined the Merrychef NPI team in September 2019. My role consists of working with the engineering, manufacturing and implementation teams to generate new design developments through the use of testing and design tools such and DFMEA, ongoing long-term lab testing, as well as working with current product lines to implement improvement to the Merrychef produce range.
Fast Food Systems
Catering Equipment & Franchising
When I joined Fast Food Systems as design engineer my role was very varied, taking full advantage of my early design and management experience. Initially focused on improving the entire design and production support systems and procedures, bringing the design department up to date. This included the need to update and improve the design and drawings for the current line of products in the Vizu range. I improved and imported all the material and labour details into the MRP system exact. I was responsible for designing and drawing all the new products and bespoke layouts for customers, as well as re-draws for existing products.
In addition to the classic Design Engineer role, I was responsible for a project to produce a new website for Fast Food Systems Vizu product range and as a result, learned and used WordPress. I built a further 2 new websites; SFC Express and FFS Brands Ingredients, and was ultimately responsible for overseeing the design on the new Southern Fried Chicken Website.
I became manager of the new Graphic Designer and subsequently the Kitchen Designer was also brought into my team.
Airport Security Systems
For my first role out of university I was lucky enough to begin my career working in Norfolk for Herbert systems. The company was comprised of 2 parts; agricultural machinery and airport security systems, which was the department I joined, working on 3 main projects.
The first was a Luxury security lane for Schipol airport to ensure that First and Business Class passengers enjoyed an opulent and more pleasurable security experience & environment.
The second project area was the ongoing design and implementation of standardised security lane modules for numerous international airports.
The third main project area was a different modern scandinavian style design of security lanes for Oslo airport.
I achieved a 2:1 degree in Industrial Design & Technology from the Loughborough Design School.
This course (and involvement with Mechanical Engineering Dept) provided me with excellent exposure to many and various skills required for a ‘design for manufacture’ role including:
